LAS CRUCES - A U.S. Border Patrol agent allegedly had sex with an underage high school student at least 20 times since last summer, according to court documents filed in Doña Ana County Magistrate Court.

Orlando Gomez, 42, of the 4500 block of Galisteo Loop in Las Cruces, was arrested Friday by Las Cruces police on suspicion of sexually assaulting the now 16-year-old girl. He is charged with three counts of criminal sexual penetration of a minor and one count of criminal sexual contact of a minor — all fourth-degree felonies.

In a statement given to police, the girl said she and Gomez developed a sexual relationship when she was 15. She said they first began to have sex in May 2015. Their sexual relationship continued until April of this year, she said.
